What to Wear

This evenings event is an elegant costume ball. Come adorned with jewels, velvets, leathers, masks, cloaks, wings, and glitter to your liking. Dress in suits, in slacks, in gowns and such. You need not be formal, but we do ask that you leave off the gross and hokey. This is not the Exotic Erotic or the County Fair's "Carnival Hall of Horrors". Bring style and class but perhaps, not that severed limb...

Since people have been asking what they should wear, here are some suggestions:

What to Wear
  • Renaissance outfits will look wonderful, as will other Period Dress.
  • Historical Dress is appropriate. Some folks are thinking about Celtic, African or Egyptian outfits and you may see some SCA folks in Medieval wear.
  • Fairy & Fae outfits are a very good idea (please make sure that any Wings, etc, aren't *too* big, otherwise you'll crowd folks off the dance floor and you won't fit into the Restroom.
  • Very Romantic Gothic outfits, Gypsy styles, and High Class Witch attire would be elegant.
  • The Classic Vampire look is a bit overdone these days, but 17th & 18th Century outfits always look good.
  • Leather is also a good idea (although bondage and fetish stuff and too much nudity may not be.) Show off your tattoos, if ya have 'em, but don't risk getting arrested.
  • Velvet, satin, lace and silk (and/or fabrics that look like these but don't cost as much) will fit in most wonderfully.
  • Tribal or Ethnic costumes are most welcome.
  • Circe du Solei & "Phantom of the Opera" styles are good.
  • Futuristic designs ala "Far Scape" or "The Matrix" would be fine, if hard to dance in.
  • Tuxes and Ball Gowns are welcome.

Attitude, as you know, is everything. We encourage folks to look magical, romantic and wonderful. Most importantly, you should feel good in what you wear.

You don't have to go overboard on costume for this - a simple dress with a shawl or cloak for women would be lovely. Men would do well with a nice pair of pants and a great looking shirt.

No edged weapons please or knives. Theatrical Grade weapons are allowed (and we will let the Police know that our folks are carrying these).

We will have a Cloak Room, so you can bring a purse and you can layer to keep warm.
