An electric ripple passes through the caravan, quickening the pace. You wonder what has caused this excitement, then you see it... a green jewel of lush vegetation floating on the horizon. As rough terrain gives way to grassy farmland and bricked pathways, the air comes alive with the perfume of fresh fruits and exotic spices. Moving deeper into this small pocket of civilization, your group mingles with a variety of other travelers approaching the same oasis: exotic ladies, robed merchants, Buddhist monks, Hun warriors and many other mysterious beings. Finally, you enter a courtyard where pulsing drums and musical cymbals punctuate an ancient melody. You have arrived at a timeless celebration of dance, commerce, and peaceful fellowship. You have arrived at the Witches' Ball. The 2004 Witches' Ball takes place at the Lucie Stern Center - a beautiful complex of 1940s Spanish-style buildings located within a lush oasis of greenery. In addition to an Art Deco Ballroom, the Lucie Stern has romantic gardens and plenty of space to explore, show off your finery, and mingle among friends. This Spanish Mediterranean-style locale will be our playground for an exotic evening. The Ballroom features hardwood floors, two fireplaces, an open-beamed cathedral ceiling with six art deco chandeliers, and a wall of windows to let in the glow of moonlight. Our attendees will imbue this beautiful ballroom with an additional aura of mysterious glamour, making it a splendid place to lose yourself in the dance. The Fireside Room, with glass-paned doors opening onto a luxuriant private lawn, will be available for our guests who wish to rest, converse, or admire one another away from the music. The Community Room will feature our magickal bazaar of Vendors, a professional Photographer able to capture your costume, and a talented Face Painter to add a bit more enchantment to your look. Light refreshments will be for sale throughout the evening in the Kitchen area. Come enjoy a memorable evening frolic full of music, dance and celebration under the stars. Those adults who wish to take the party late into the evening will have access to the wonderful clubs, pubs, coffee bars, and restaurants in downtown Palo Alto.
