Greetings to all Full Circle friends and members,
In this edition of our November newsletter we have:
A Note from Sia * A Review of the Witches’ Ball from the
San Jose Metro * Local Show for Pagan Quilt Artist * 2002 Contacts List – A New
Year’s Gift from Full Circle * Events of Interest * Wealthy in My Friends
Dear friends,
This month’s issue of our newsletter will be a bit different, as it features our Year’s End Contact List & an On-going Events List along with our usual Events of Interest List for November & December. Our other articles on crafts, books and websites of interest (and the events lists) will be back again next month.
As most of you know, Full Circle is staffed entirely by volunteers. We give our free time to:
· Design, organize and host the Witches’ Ball and our other Full Circle events.
· We also produce the newsletter which lists events, books, articles, crafts & ideas of interest for our community.
· We provide networking and contact information to Pagans in Northern California and beyond.
· We answer every phone call and every email we receive.
· We refer Pagans to Bay Area groups, teachers, stores, circles and events.
· We coordinate information with other Pagan groups, both within the state and nationally.
· We work with the local and national Press, Law Enforcement agencies and various Interfaith groups on behalf of our community.
· We write articles for on-line and print publications on various aspects of our culture.
· We build these web pages so you’ll have this information at your fingertips.
· We give advice and information to other groups throughout the country who wish to serve their community as we do.
While we don’t pretend to speak for all Pagans, we do try to provide a balanced and positive view of Paganism to the world at large.
After every Samhain, we take several months off to rest and recuperate. As always, the Council and our Senior Staff will meet again in January to discuss the events we hope to offer our community next year. In the meantime, the newsletter will continue on, as usual.
Most of our Events List and our Contacts List in this month’s newsletter come to us courtesy of Scoutghost, our Networking Witch, who compiled these. This is our gift to you for the New Year. We hope that it helps you to meet other Pagans and that you find support, instruction and joy on your Path.
On behalf of our volunteers, I’d like to thank you for your support this last year. We are grateful that so many of you recommend the Full Circle Newsletter and our various events to your friends. At present, the newsletter reaches over 900 Pagan families throughout the Bay Area. This level of community work would not be possible without you and our wonderful volunteers.
This month’s newsletter is dedicated to those Pagans who were forced to move out of the Bay Area due to the economy and other factors. Over 200 of them have them have written to our office this year to say how much they missed the Pagan community they knew here. They remind us how lucky we are to live in the tolerant climate of California. We wish them all well in their new homes and we hope for a day when all 50 states are as open to the Pagan Path as this one is.
In your service,
Sia
REVIEW OF THE WITCHES BALL:
The San Jose Mercury sent a reporter to this year’s Witches’ Ball. You can read his wonderful review here: http://www.metroactive.com/papers/metro/10.17.02/biter-0242.html
He overestimates the number of people who were there, bless him. The crowd looked so fabulous they must have dazzled the eye.
We are grateful to all of you who came to this year’s ball. You looked great, you were fun to be with and you represented our community with style, dignity and grace. Thank you.
This review from the Mercury was also printed at Wren’s Nest at The Witches Voice, (http://www.witchvox.com) As a result, it received international coverage and was read by thousands of Pagans, world wide. Our folks can be proud.
The Humane Society was extremely pleased, as was the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley. http://www.fullcircleevents.org/ball2002/award.shtml
Our DJ kept everyone dancing (and donated half his fee), our FLARE folk kept everyone safe (and donated their time, money and much of the cost of their equipment).
The decorations looked amazing. Our thanks go out to the Decorating Committee and our Lighting Crew who managed to do so much with so little money and with such a small staff. The place looked magical and we are very grateful for their hard work and creativity.
I would also like to thank our wonderful Witches’ Ball Volunteers who gave us so much help that day and evening.

Work for the ball begins early when we load the truck at 8 am and ends the next day at 2 am in the morning. These people worked in shifts throughout the day, in particular during Set Up and Break Down. They also sold Raffle Tickets and staffed the Box Office.
We could not do all this without you good folks and our Senior Staff (some of whom worked that entire time.
Special Thanks Go To our 2002 Senior Staff & Council
for making this year such a success.

We are also grateful to our Entertainers (who also worked for free).
Tango Dancers: Gwendolyn Wagner, Sheldon Utley

Phrenologist: Ray G.
Two unnamed jugglers: Hey folks, send us your names, please, so we can thank
you properly.
Thanks also to the Stores who sold tickets and helped
advertise the ball http://www.fullcircleevents.org/ball2002/tickets.shtml
Our Sponsors who helped pay for the ball http://www.fullcircleevents.org/ball2002/index.shtml
and the wonderful Vendors http://www.fullcircleevents.org/ball2002/vendors.shtml
who brought such delightful items to the ball. And our Photographers who took such wonderful pictures.
Our Senior Staff and the Council worked for 10 months and gave hundreds of hours of their free time to make this one event a success. We can’t thank you folks enough for your time, dedication and creativity. Know that we love working with you and that we value you highly, both as people and as colleagues.
Last, but not least, I would like to thank Hawk, our 2002 Witches’ Ball Director. None of our accomplishments this year would have been possible without her inspired leadership. It is not often that you find someone who combines professional level management skills and a talent for organization with artistic flare and creativity. I knew that Hawk was talented when we choose her for this position, but little did I know how deep and wide her skill set goes. As I watched her work, I became more and more impressed with her delightful use of language, her technological savvy, her sensitivity towards people and her splendid grasp of logistics. I’ve come to admire her tact, her compassion and her grace under pressure. I relied on her sense of humor, her open-hearted perspective and her deep well of (not so) common sense. It’s been an honor serving with you, Hawk. Speaking on behalf of the Council and our Staff, I can say that we all look forward to working with you again next year.
Again, I would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who came to this year’s ball. We appreciate your support, especially in these hard economic times. A guestimate puts our attendance at around 400. At this point, we believe that we have made back all our expenses (we are still waiting on money from some of the store that sold tickets). We also believe that we will have a donation of $1,000 to give to the Humane Society. We have also given a check for $250.00 to the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley. Our yearly budget will be printed in this newsletter in January.
The fine details of an owl’s feather, the grace of a lunar month, the patterns in an oak leaf…..Owlwind creates unique fabric art wall hangings that focus on the beauty of the natural world. Her work is in private collections across the country.
You can view her work at Border’s Books and Music, 316 W. El Camino Real in Sunnyvale from November 2 – 29th.
There will be a reception in her honor on Sunday, November 10th at Borders beginning at 2 p.m.
